I dropped by an old forum I used years ago when domains were a big part of my daily life & income… and what’s really interesting is how many domainers have now adopted the Google keyword tool as their method for targeting domain names.

It’s a method I’ve used for a long time, basically using the volume reports from the keyword tool to help identify possible keyword rich domain names.. For us old school domainers the now defunct Overture keyword tool used to do the same job.

Here’s my problem… well not so much problem, more of a niggling upset when I’m buying domains from traders. Some domainers are referencing [Exact Keyword Matches]  as the supporting data for buying & selling these domains, the principle being that a highly searched for exact phrase will achieve relatively good search engine rankings (based on Google pro weighting factor for keyword rich domains) & be valuable by the very nature of the potential traffic… Great no problem with that…

However! Some domainers now think this model supports the “this domain has 20k exact keyword matches, I now want a zillion quid for it” theory..
Anyone that’s worked in SEO and achieved good rankings will tell you how inaccurate these stats are.

So why the niggle..?
I guess the fact that such a big emphasis is being held on “exact match” Google stats, and domainers using the model to support nonsense valuations… Don’t get me wrong, I will target the very same domain names; however I’m under no illusion about the value or potential traffic..

Those that know me probably already know about my slight addiction for buying domain names… I know it’s a filthy habit, but I just can’t help it..

To be fair, I haven’t really been that active in domaining since 2008 – mainly due to job changes & focusing on developing some of these names for long term projects.

Well needless to say I’ve completely fallen off the wagon… I brokered one uk domain & sold 2 others so far In August. On the back of the sales I’ve purchased a few new ones this week, only 10 or so names, so no need to tell the missus yet…it’s only a bit of fun

I’ve been looking at a few lucrative niches; Gold being one of them, now obviously gold is massive business these days, both from an investment point of view & the new “cash for gold craze” sweeping the internet…
So here are a few from my research list… all available to register with a couple on here maybe worth a punt..?
